Chaux Vive is an architectural conservation and preservation firm based in New Orleans. The name “Chaux Vive”, which means “quick lime” in French, reflects our dedication to the application of traditional methods and materials, such as lime. The choice of the French language also reflects our belief in the preservation of local cultural heritage.

Chaux Vive serves the need for professional preservation and conservation of the built environment in New Orleans and beyond, with a respect for, and utilization of, historic materials and techniques, combined with a 21st century perspective and approach. We provide hands on treatments as well as documentation for preservation projects. Our work is executed in accordance with generally accepted preservation principles, such as those identified in The Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and the Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic & Artistic Works. We also seek to educate the public about the importance and value of historic preservation and architectural conservation.
